Safe Sport
Swimming Canada and Swim PEI believe that all athletes have the right to enjoy the sport of swimming at whatever level or position they participate. Swimmers, coaches, officials and volunteers have the right to participate in safe and inclusive training and a competitive environment that is free of abuse, harassment, or discrimination.
The welfare of everyone involved in the sport is a foremost consideration and in particular, the protection of children/athletes in the sport is the responsibility of each individual, member and special interest group in the swimming community.
Safe Sport Operational Statement
The Swimming Canada safe sport program will focus on three key areas: education, prevention and response, all of which will be supported by strong governance, policies and procedures. The goal is to ensure that all members and registrants of Swimming Canada, at all levels, have the resources to provide and access a fun, healthy, inclusive and safe environment.
Independent Third Party
An independent third party (ITP) is an individual or group, external to Swimming Canada who is responsible for providing expert, objective, external facilitation of complaints in accordance with Swimming Canada’s Discipline & Complaints Policy.
Swimming Canada has retained Sport Dispute Management (SDM) to provide independent third-party services to Swimming Canada. Any individual who has witnessed, experienced, or received information regarding maltreatment of any kind can contact SDM for information about the complaint process or to submit a complaint. For general disputes, you are encouraged to resolve your situation at the club or provincial level before contacting SDM.
You can submit a complaint here or ask questions of the Independent Third Party by contacting Sport Dispute Management at complaints@sportdispute.com.
